The Village prides itself on its urban forest and landscape and it is the Public Works Department's focus to effectively manage the Village's healthy urban forest, and provide the quality landscaping within the parks, boulevards, and green spaces. Within the urban forest, the Public Works Department, under the guidance of a full-time Village Forester, maintains roughly 9,500 Village-owned trees. In addition, the Public Works Department takes on the annual task of planting and maintaining approximately 125 flower beds, maintaining all turf and landscape areas within the Village's parks, boulevards, and public green spaces.
The Public Works Department designs, plants, and maintains all the decorative plantings in public spaces. From flowerbeds in the parkway to customized plantings in the parks, the Public Works crews keep Whitefish Bay beautiful.
