Building Services

The Building Inspector conducts all building, plumbing and electrical inspections for the Village as well as issues permits.

Scheduling an Inspection

Call office staff Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to schedule an inspection. Please allow up to 48 hours for inspections.

Inspectors can enter a home via lock box or open door if no one is home and pets are secured.
Note these entry exceptions when inspection is scheduled. Do not schedule an inspection when there will only be a minor present at the home.

Electrical Licensing

Due to a change in State Law, the Village will not be issuing electrical contractor's licenses in 2014. All electricians doing work in the Village through April 2013 must obtain a contractor's license.

Setbacks and Lot Coverage

Most structures built on any property in the village are required to be set back from the property line a certain distance.

Every residential lot is limited to forty percent coverage. This means that sixty percent of the lot must not be used for buildings or accessory structures. This total of forty percent includes thirty percent for the house and ten percent for the garage or accessory structures. For more information, please contact the Building Inspection Office.
